Also called Frenchies, French Bulldogs are believed to have originated from the small bulldog breed of England. During the Industrial Revolution, workers of Nottingham is said to have introduced the first bulldog to the French soil. The 1860s witnessed a surging popularity of these miniature dogs in France, to the extent that the breed became almost extinct in England. In France, the miniature bulldogs might have been crossed with the Terrier Boule to result in the French Bulldog. The new breed made its first appearance in the US at the Westminster Kennel Club show held in New York. This Bulldog puppies are fun companions for kids.
French Bulldog Puppies: Characteristics
Contrary to the glum facial expression, French Bulldog puppies can be lively, comical and amicable. Generally well behaved, this breed of puppies can adapt to a closed apartment as easily as to an open farmhouse. They have a warm disposition, are affectionate by nature and unduly boisterous. Active, alert and playful, ball chasing is one of their favorite sports. Although the puppies can grow up to become couch potatoes, they also love going for walks when the weather is cool, and clown around when happy.
Some males of this sweet-natured, sensitive breed can be hostile to other dogs. However, the majority of them are usually peaceful. Bulldog puppies require a lot of love and affection to be in their best moods. This breed is very obstinate and training them can be quite a challenge.
