Also called Frenchies, French Bulldogs are believed to have originated from the small bulldog breed of England. During the Industrial Revolution, workers of Nottingham is said to have introduced the first bulldog to the French soil. The 1860s witnessed a surging popularity of these miniature dogs in France, to the extent that the breed became almost extinct in England. In France, the miniature bulldogs might have been crossed with the Terrier Boule to result in the French Bulldog.
