Tips For Introducing Your Staffy Pup To His New Home

  • 18/06/2013

Most everyone loves a cute little staffy pup as they are completely adorable. The Staffordshire bull terrier is one of the most popular breed of dog in the world. They are very loving and exceptionally intelligent dogs. Their personalities are particularly tenacious and fun. These little dogs seem to have a real sense of humor, and an affinity for people. You will find that they tend to blend right into the family, and that they are extremely loyal and protective of children.

Staffy pups are very affectionate dogs. They love to be close to you and cuddle on your lap. Even when your puppy has grown, you will find them still bounding up to you with the excitement of being close. Many owners of staffys love that this breed of dog has short hair and smooth coats, and grooming is not a full-time job. They require fewer baths, and their smoother coats are of the self-cleaning variety.

In spite of being on the smaller side, staffys are considerably strong and muscular dogs. They are very active and make great companions. Their courage will warm your heart, and you will love that they are eager to please and highly obedient. Their size makes them an ideal pet in many types of homes from apartments to flats.

Your staffy will delight in regular exercise, and a daily walk is highly recommended. Staffy pups will need to have proper training from the moment you bring them home. Initially, they will need to learn the commands, sit and stay for their own safety. Because these adorable pups are so very intelligent, it is recommended that you train them consistently every day for a maximum of 10 to 15 minutes. Their formal training should consist of incentives that alternate between praise and treats.

It is recommended that you use both vocal and physical signals to get your puppy used to commands and their meanings. It will take some time for your puppy to associate certain vocal commands with particular actions. You want to engage your puppy, and keep them interested in the lessons.

Training your puppy properly and consistently is key to their development. Also keep your staffy pup on a regular schedule and routine so that they will get used to their new life. When you take the necessary time to spend with your new pet, you will be surprised at how quickly they adjust to home and family life.
