Things Everyone Should Know About English Bulldogs
- 27/01/2014
English bulldogs for sale is an advert most people cannot help looking at. They are the cutest puppies, filled with wrinkles and stocky bodies. It's important to remember that while these are probably the most adorable puppies you will ever see, they are a lifelong commitment.
The first thing you should know about bulldogs for sale is the price. These are expensive puppies and there is a reason for this. An English bulldog will have a small litter. Usually five puppies are the most you will find in the litters.
The price is also reflected in the fact that a female can only be artificially disseminated, due to their shape and size. Another important consideration is that she cannot have a natural childbirth, which means you will get the puppies via operation. This is already a huge cost to the breeder, who will still register and vaccinate the puppies before they are ready for their new home.
While these make adorable puppies, it's important to know that they are an exceptionally stubborn breed. Many dogs will find delight in learning new commands and being rewarded, where this particular breed isn't interested. It takes a lot of patience and dedication when training these dogs.
Training should start sooner than later, ensuring that some of what you're trying to teach the dog does work.
Over and above bulldogs for sale being hard to train once you get them home, they are also known for their health problems. You cannot buy this breed of dog and not expect to care for them.
They are prone to joint problems, making it impossible for them to run for long periods of time without it being painful and causing damage. This breed also needs their new owners to take time out each day to clean the wrinkles on their faces. Bacteria can build up between the wrinkles, which can lead to painful and unwelcome infections.
Because of their very flat noses, these dogs are known for having breathing problems. This is why when viewing bulldogs for sale you want to pay careful consideration to their nose, ensuring they have flared nostrils which will cut the risk of breathing problems later.
As you may have seen, these dogs are heavy dogs with large heads. They also have very flat faces which makes it impossible for this breed to swim. Most dogs can swim, but unfortunately these dogs will sink, they cannot hold their heads up long enough and having a pool open to the dog can lead to a disastrous result.
English bulldogs also suffer from hot and cold. During the summer months it's essential to make sure a shaded place for your dog to enjoy and even spray him or her with water from time to time. Always make sure they don't get sunburn, especially on lighter colored dogs.
Over and above all this you will find that you need to empty and clean their water bowl at various intervals throughout the day, this eliminates the slime build up which will happen as the dog drinks.
While there are so many considerations when considering adding this breed to your home, they are very rewarding dogs. They have various personality traits and exceptionally affectionate and loving, which is why they are such a popular choice.
It's essential you take all the factors into consideration to ensure you can offer this breed a long-term home. Once you decide buy from a reputable breeder where you can visit the parents to make the right choice.
