Correcting a learned behavior is always more difficult than preventing it. A distinguishing characteristic of the breed is the so-called "shiba scream". When sufficiently provoked or unhappy, the dog will produce a loud, high pitched scream. Though this sound is also made sometimes when the dog is extremely happy, it can be quite unpleasant to you, and to your neighbors.
