Shiba Inu - The Catlike Dog, Why Are They So Popular?
- 20/11/2010
Shiba Inus are a delightful dog breed. Small, brave, intelligent, energetic and loyal to a fault. These puppies originated in Japan, in fact they are Japan's most popular dog breed. After you learn a little about them it should be no surprise.
Shiba Inu dogs are small, as a matter of fact most people are surprised when they see them in person, as they are smaller than they appear in photos.
These little puppies don't bark much, they prefer a soft, gentle howl, although when frightened or just plain aren't getting their way, they possess the dreaded "Shiba Scream" (They are so spoiled).
"Is your dog part fox?" That's a comment you may need to get used to as well, they look very fox like. Their behavior is very much like a cat, They are very clean and they like to groom themselves and are very independent. I have heard that some Shiba Inu pups have even been taught to use a litter box.
Shiba Inu puppies are truly a handful, full of energy, curiosity, and headstrong. They love to chew, so have plenty of chewables available to them. They will show a great deal of love and be loyal companions. Despite their small size these dogs are alert, brave and strong, they are excellent guard dogs for their size.
Beware Shibas will quickly endear themselves in your heart and your family, sweet, lovable and charming.
With all this going for them, it's no wonder the Japanese love them. Now it's time for Shiba Inu's to take North America by storm!
