Pugs Not Drugs

  • 16/08/2012

"Pugs Not Drugs," is an awesome saying. Who wouldn't want a cute, adorable pug to help him get through a difficult time. It's not just about drugs, it's about life. Life in general is stressful enough and can lead us to become upset, anxious, and depressed. And because of this stress, many turn to drugs and alcohol. A pug (or any dog, for that matter) is really good for your emotional well being. It will help you to feel needed, give you a great sense of accomplishment, and drama-free, unconditional love.

Nurturing a pet gives you that reason to get up and get moving when you really don't feel like it. He's always happy that you care for him and doesn't ask for anything in return. Research has proved that interaction with dogs can lower the blood pressure, help with depression, relieve stress, and help you to live a longer, healthier life. A recent study proved that taking care of your dog gives such a calming effect, the stress hormone, Cortisol, is significantly reduced when analyzing the brain. Taking care of an animal can also help with loneliness for senior citizens.

The person responsible for creating "Pugs Not Drugs" is a freelance illustrator and artist, Gemma Correll. She has two pugs named Mr. Norman Pickles and Bella (how cute!!) She lives in Norwich, UK. This adorable saying can be found on all sorts of things like t-shirts, tote bags, key chains, coffee mugs, just about anything. She loves her pugs so much that she created this catchy phrase in honor of them. A catchy phrase it is, even celebrity Vinny from Jersey Shore thinks so, too, since he is the proud owner of a "Pugs Not Drugs" t-shirt which he wore on an episode of Jersey Shore.

Pugs are cute, loving, affectionate, and loyal to their owners. A pug is truly a "people dog". You will have so much fun with your little guy, you won't have any time for sadness and depression. Your pug will be the drug in your life that you will become addicted to and give you such a good feeling. You will have so much fun taking care of him, it will put a smile on your face. As mentioned above, research has proven that dogs in your life are good for your overall well-being.

I give a lot of credit to Gemma Correll for inventing "Pugs Not Drugs." It's such a great saying with a very effective message.

I just love the saying, "Pugs Not Drugs." It was created by Gemma Correll, a freelance illustrator and artist inspired by her two adorable pugs. I have created a new blog about pugs and if you're interested, stop on by: http://pugsnotdrugs.org/
