Miniature Schnauzers - The Great All Purpose Dog

Miniature Schnauzers originated from Germany in the mid 19th century. These dogs are designed to be working dogs, specifically for small farms. They have are very courageous and were typically used for guarding families, herding sheep, and small farms. At one point, they were even used for catching rats! Miniature Schnauzers are of the terrier type. Schnauzers are one of the easiest breed of dog to train!

There is an ongoing controversy today about the mini schnauzers. Schnauzers do not have lethal white gene theories. These are not albino breeds, they show qualities of their colored counterparts and are very strong and robust dogs. The FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale) now honors white Schnauzers within their breed type. Recently Miniature schnauzers are allowed to participate in AKC events. Hooray Schnauzers!

Traits about Schnauzers:

- Temperament for Mini Schnauzer Very alert and affectionate.

- Obedient and listens directly with commands.

- Very eager to please.

- Schnauzer's have a great sense of their territory.

- The dogs are quite pricey.

- If you are looking for a dog that will greet you at the front door and be overjoyed to see you, then a Schnauzer is a really good fit!

- Schnauzers will not favor a person until its master lets them know this person is acceptable. Aggression is typically not a problem, though.

- Very playful.

- For the most part, they are good around children, yet like any other dog it should always be supervised.

- The physical traits of this dog is short and stocky.

These dogs have a high tolerance for hunt, especially when tracking prey. If they see a Bird, rodent, or any other small animal on your property, they will definitely attack it....

Schnauzers need tasks and to stay entertained, if they do not receive attention, they will start to make up their own things to do! It can be very intriguing to see what type of interesting fun activities they make come up with on their own!

This is a very sophisticated breed of terrier, grooming your dog will be important. You can expect you Schnauzer to live for approximately live for twelve to fourteen years. This dog gives love like no other and if you thinking about getting one, it definitely would be worth it! You will find that these devoted dogs are quite sophisticated!
