After all, the best way to decide whether or not this is the right pet for you is to know more about how these animals tend to behave.
The Belgian Shepherd is a considered a large dog that typically weighs up to 66 pounds. The weight will vary, but these animals can get a bit heavy. The breed is originally from Belgium, but you can find these dogs in a number of households across the country. They have long hair and are usually either black or a mixture of tan and black.
If you are looking for a protective pet, this is the kind of dog breed you want to bring into your home. The Belgian Shepherd is known for being intelligent, loving and protective of its loved ones. The dog may point its ears at even the smallest of sounds, but that is because of its instinctive nature to protect the family.
Although they love to protect, they also enjoy spending time outdoors and participating in activities. If you have a lot of time to devote to playing around with your pet, the Belgian Shepherd may be the perfection addition to your family. These dogs tend to get along quite well with children they are around all the time, which is great to know if you have little ones in the home too.
These dogs love jumping and running all around the home, so make sure you have plenty of space to offer to him or her. Even after a long walk, you may still notice your pup is extremely active, but that is common for this particular breed. The children may be able to wear the dog out a bit by playing fetch and other fun and enjoyable games.
It is important to know that while the dog may love your children, he or she may not be so comfortable around other children. If you plan to have kids over to play with your little ones, always keep an eye on the dog. If the pup thinks that your little ones are in danger, it may choose to chase after the neighborhood children, which is something you will want to avoid. Even so, the Belgian Shepherd is a great pet to have.
