Ibizan Hound Dog Breed Information

The Ibizan Hound originated many hundreds of years ago in the Balearic Island of Ibiza off of the coast of Spain. Used for lure coursing and hunting rabbits, this athletic dog breed also makes a good and quiet house pet. The Ibizan Hound is an athletic, gently, loyal, and even-tempered watchdog. Some may be a bit timid around strangers but they can warm up easily to other pets and humans once they become acquainted to them. The Ibizan Hound dog breed makes an excellent companion for those are active, outdoor enthusiasts, families with children, singles, and even experienced dog owners.
On average both the male and female Ibizan Hounds tends to weigh about forty two to fifty five pounds and on average are about twenty two to twenty eight inches in height. The average life span of this dog breed is about ten twelve years. These dogs are quite lean, strong, and prefer to be active so providing them with a good and lengthy walk or run daily is good for them. Providing your Ibizan Hound with daily amounts of exercise whether it is taking them to the dog park, going on a walk or run, or playing indoors, it is important for them to get adequate exercise so they remain healthy. Ibizan Hound's do best with a yard, however make sure there is a tall fence so they do not escape since they are able to jump quite high.
Some common health concerns of the Ibizan Hound dog breed are allergies and seizures.
