Want your Weimaraner to stop running after everything that moves? It is important to learn how to stop a Weimaraner chasing for a variety of reasons, beginning with the danger to your Weimaraner. A car driving along, a person on a bike or an animal by the side of the road can lead to many circumstances that could be very dangerous to them.

Diversion - If you can get a friend to help you out. Get them to run by or ride a pushbike or anything that the Weimaraner will chase. To stop the dog from chasing here, have the friend stop and firmly say "no" to stop him from chasing. For many Weimaraner this will help to teach them that catching what they are chasing isn't a good thing. This doesn't work for every dog and you will have to be patient.

Avoiding Extreme Measures

Many people will try anything to stop their dog chasing after things, such as shock collars, electric fences or other such measures to stop their dog chasing things. These will not work for a variety of reasons. They're cruel to the dog to start with, and they can turn your dog against you.
