Creating A Cuddle Space For Your Miniature Pinscher

  • 23/11/2010

Originally from Germany this breed was developed to be a barnyard ratter which explains their need to burrow. Because they were kept in the barn to get rid of rats they probably learned to burrow under the hay to keep warm. Although they look similar to their Doberman Pinscher cousin they are not a miniature Doberman. They are related to the Dachshund and Italian Greyhound.

Keeping a Miniature Pinscher happy is easy to do. They need daily walks and play. They are easy to take care of as they have short hair coats that need occasional brushing and washing. A fairly easy dog to maintain it is perfect for apartment living as well as living with children. They are small in stature but not in personality. They have no clue that they are a little dog and will guard you with their mighty bark.

Miniature Pinscher's are also very smart and pick up on language fairly quickly. Because of this you will need to be careful what you say around him. Our Miniature Pinscher knows the words, Food, Outside, and Treats are important words in his life so we use these words sparingly until we are actually going to doing these things for him.

Along with their tendency to bark and protect they also like to cuddle. You can create a cuddle space or burrowing space if you prefer. We have such a place in our living room. It is a little corner which has his pillows, blankets and even his little toys. From time to time you will need to go through his cuddle space because they like to hide things and this is a perfect spot for them.

Cuddle Spot Items:

  • Blanket
  • pillows or dog bed
  • toys
  • LOVE

I love our Miniature Pinscher and will even cuddle with him on the couch. He is a small dog but offers tons of Love in return. He will even beg to come up on the couch with me with his blanket so that we can spend time together.

Miniature Pinschers, though small, are big in personality. They are a great family dog and good for apartment living. They are also great protectors and will guard your home with his mighty bark. Best of all though they are great cuddle company.
