Larger Dogs Need Special Dog Beds

  • 06/03/2016

Some of the worst nights of sleep for humans can be caused by poor mattresses. They can be too hard, too soft, too small or too large, depending on each individual's needs. It is an important task to find the bed that will provide the right amount of support and comfort for a good night's sleep. Why, then, should dogs be any different?

Man's best friend deserves a place to relax and rest that is personalized to his or her needs. Without a proper bed, dogs have nowhere to go, nowhere to relax, and nothing insulating or supporting them. Some pet providers create run of the mill dog beds, which can actually do more harm than good (beds for large dogs will not be as effective for small dogs, and vice versa). While choosing a pet bed, make sure to look at the options each company provides to ensure your furry companion can enjoy the same comfort each night, and above all make sure you choose a dog bed provider that comes recommended by veterinarians, as there is no testimonial like one from an expert in dog health.

dog-bed.jpgDogs, like humans, are not immune to ageing and degenerative diseases. According to the pet experts at Mammoth Outlet, ailments such as Intervertable Disc Disease (IDD) are serious problems for dogs (especially large breeds), and having a poor bed will only exacerbate the problem. Constant contact with hard surfaces causes more pain and harms the dog's discs even further. If your pet is suffering from this sort of injury, an orthopaedic dog bed might be the way to go. It keeps dogs off the floor, cushions joints and bones, and relieves pressure on sore areas.

Along with age, the size of your pooch is a large factor when considering what bed is the best option. Large dogs require not only more room, but more support as well. Beds for large dogs ensure that there is a thick layer of foam to cushion them. Your dog should not hit the floor when lying down. If the dog bed is all memory foam, this might occur. You need to make sure a stable core is the main part of the mattress just like human beds. This will give your dog the comfort he or she deserves without compromising your own bed rest.

When you are looking at dog beds at Mammothoutlet.com/breedus.htm, pay particular attention to the material with which the bed is constructed. It should be durable, yet easy to wash. Frequently washing the bed can help eliminate odors and help with pet dander and mildew. A strong and yet flexible material will also allow the dog to stretch out and be comfortable in its environment, just as any human would do in their bed. Dog beds from Mammoth Outlet are made from durable, yet comfortable materials such as micro-fibers, Cordura, or canvas. Each bed also comes vet recommended so you know your furry pal is being treated to the best option possible.

Dogs are like family. Out of love and a desire to see your pet happy, be sure to take care when selecting a dog bed. Trusted companies that make dog beds will be sure to provide many options and personalized features so that your dog is safe and sound all night long.
