Dog Walking Tips

1. When you are gone for eight or more hours each day at work, this can be a lonely existence for your dog. Find a dog walker to give your puppy a break. This also gives your puppy a chance to get some exercise and to see the outside world. Puppies need to exercise and romp and play for their muscular and mental development.
2. You don't want to crate your puppy for eight to ten hours at a time. Your puppy is still too young to have long-term bladder control. The longest stretch a puppy should be crated is four hours.
3. Some owners don't want their pups walking outside. They are concerned about their pups contracting parvovirus on the streets before they are fully vaccinated. Pups get contaminated with parvo by coming in contact with the feces of an infected dog.
4. Your dog walker should take your puppy for a walk in safe areas where there isn't any dog stool on the ground. Even though the threat of contacting parvo is real, this shouldn't be a reason not to expose him to the outside world. Take precautions before the puppy has had all of its shots.
