Bernese Mountain Puppies

  • 31/10/2010

Bernese Mountain is essentially a large breed dog that grows into a huge creature of about 23 to 28 inches and weighs about some ninety pounds. Like in most cases, the female dog is shorter and slightly lighter in weight than the male dog. Also, the female dog is easier to handle than the male one. The Bernese mountain dog's head is flat at the top and its muzzle is long and straight. The bite has to be proper for the breed to be considered pure. Bernese dogs have brown eyes and the fur over the each eye is rust colored.

The coat of a Bernese dog is actually quite long and often wavy as well. The legs generally have a fawn colored coat while the whole fur is a combination of white, black and rust colors. The above defined are the traits that you should see before finally buying a Bernese Mountain Puppy. A breed is considered to be pure only when it has all the above features. Moreover if you are buying a dog for show purposes, the presence of the all the above features becomes all the more important.

Now I want to make a few suggestions before you finally choose a dog. It is quite important that you actually choose a dog that suits your lifestyle. Not only that, a dog being yet another living entity require your proper time and energy. If you are lacking on any of these, thick twice before you buy a dog. If you don't have much space in your house, do not buy a Bernese mountain dog. A Bernese mountain dog requires a lot of place to play around. If he doesn't get that, it will affect his legs and his agility to a certain extent. Plus, you need to have loads of love for dogs to be able to keep a dog as your companion and inside your own house. A Bernese mountain is generally playful and easily adjusts in a house but if irritated or provoked, it can actually become slight aggressive. So, make sure that if you have kids around in your house, do not leave them around the dogs all by their own.

Dogs generally make great house companions. They are loyal and trust me they understand when you are down and out. I have four dogs and the experience of living with them has been wonderful. But they need care, time, energy and loads of love. If you can give them all of that, you will surely love keeping a dog. And if you can give them some space to run around and play in, you would actually also totally love a Bernese Mountain Dog.
