Well known as the greatest herding dogs in the whole dog world, Australian Shepherds are quickly trained and really clever. Miniature Australian Shepherds are in fact the same species as regular Australian Shepherds that had been carefully bred for their smaller height. Quite a few feel that the minis were the initial shepherd variety and they were later carefully bred to the larger regular shepherds.
