Diabetes is more common than ever before in dogs. This could be for any number of reasons but there are distinct patterns in the number of dogs afflicted with the condition. For example, bitches that have not been spayed are twice as likely to have diabetes, especially those between the ages of seven and nine that have not previously shown signs. However, if you have overweight dogs then they are much more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than those within the healthy weight range.
