Dog Food Comparisons

When wanting the best for your pet, people can be torn as to which is the best option of food for their dog, two of the main points considered are natural food or commercial food, and which is best.

The food your dog eats will have a profound effect on your dog's health and body functioning, so you should be aiming to feed your dog the best quality food.

Dog Food Comparisons - Commercial:

Commercial dog food is generally a balanced diet, it has been formulated to suit a variety of dogs according to their nutritional needs, size, workload etc. However Commercial dog food does generally have more additives and preservatives. It does contain vitamins and minerals too. But some dog foods contain fillers, and these plus some of the additives and preservative can have nasty reactions with some dogs, causing digestive disorders, obesity, and skin problems for example.

Dog Food Comparisons - Natural:

Good natural dog food ingredients tend to include a high quality meat of human grade, sometimes fish, brown rice, Omega 3, flax, carrots, potatoes, vitamins and minerals. There are many other ingredients that are added too, these include a larger variety of vegetables and herbs, but the inclusion of these depends on the manufacturer, seasonality and availability of the ingredients, plus the correct balancing of the nutritional value of each food type.

Dog Food Comparisons - So Much Choice:

There are so many dog foods on the market, pet owners are literally spoiled for choice. Alongside the popular brands that have been around for many years are now the natural dog foods emerging on to the shelves too. They all do their utmost to grab your attention to their bags or tins so you will buy theirs.

However you need to decide which product is best for your pet, but remember to try to give your dog the very best diet for his nutritional needs. You can swap to an alternative if you feel that your dog's current food is not suitable, you just need to do the changeover gradually over a few days so you do not cause digestive problems for your dog.

In order for a dog to stay healthy and happy he also needs fresh water, regular exercise, socialisation, grooming, and vet visits for health checks, vaccinations and worming too. But remember correct nutrition is of course extremely important for a dogs health, so it is worth doing dog food comparisons to determine which is best for your dog.
