Can I Use an Anti-Barking Device on the Neighbours' Dog?

  • 18/06/2013

This is a great question, naturally like all questions we must evaluate the background info. One thing we know if your here is that your neighbors' dog is barking non stop. But the question is.... is there a genuine reason? Now for those who really sat down and thought there could be no genuine reason for barking then you are totally wrong. A dog often barks because there is something going on. What like? I hear you ask. Well here is a possible list of things it could be.

  • There is a possibility that there are animals in the garden such as; raccoons, rabbits, etc. These are very likely to drive the dog crazy. This can be more difficult to check since you can't walk around your neighbors' garden.

  • There could be people jogging near the gate/fence. This can be allowed to a limit, but should be considered within the area you live in. If you're in a busy area and the barking is unbearable for you, you may need to buy an anti-barking device.

  • Are there loud noises in the garden such as music, etc. This will set some dogs into a barking frenzy.

  • Is someone in your family is pestering the dog?

If all these are a 'no' and the neighbors dog is still a pain in the neck. Then you have no option but to move onto the first stage of our grand plan.

Stage 1: as I'm sure you have guessed, is to talk the problem courteously with your neighbor. It's their responsibility. If your lucky, they will use one of several training methods and/or anti-barking devices at their disposal to solve the situation. Don't forget to leave them time to train the dog if they agree!!! Rome wasn't built in a day.

Stage 2: the neighbors ignore you, maybe even cuss at you just for asking. Some people have no class, huh! Well you still have a secret weapon that you can use. That is a radio system anti-barking device. These devices are remote and because of that do not need a collar. These devices use ultrasonic frequencies which are unpleasant to the dog to make it stop barking. 'Great', I hear you cry!. Unfortunately though. It requires cash and should not be abused!!! Dogs' barking is natural and shouldn't be completely eradicated if possible.

So everyone I hope that solves your problem. I strongly recommend talking to your neighbors first. If you have tried all you can with the neighbors, but it does come down to having to use an anti-barking device, I think that then you are fully justified in using anti-barking devices.
