Air Travel And Crate Training: Reinforce The Positives

Do you like flying? If you do then you are one of the minority because most people hate it. The lack of control and pull of gravity scare most people, and then there is the cramped seating that just plain irritates people. However, the cramped seating is great for humans compared to the experience of being transported in a crate, which is the deal that all dogs that travel on an airplane get. This is why comprehensive crate training could help.

All dogs travelling on an airline flight has to be confined to an approved crate by law. As it is a legal requirement, you must abide by it whether you like it or not, but imagine the stress your dog will be under if he or she has to travel in a crate that he or she is not used to. Unfamiliar surroundings are bad enough but to be confined in a crate with all of the engine noise must be truly frightening if your dog is not crate trained.

Crate training could actually be used to good effect if you are planning to fly with your dog any time soon. A crate trained dog will think of his or her crate as a safe haven and so will find the experience less disturbing than would be otherwise possible. This will put your mind at ease as well as make for a happier dog, which is the ultimate aim after all!
