2 Best Deworming Treatments For Canines
- 16/01/2017
Worms causes pooch to eat irregularly or lose their desire to eat. In case your furry pal is facing these problems, then it is about time to de-worm your dog. Take him to the veterinarian who would conduct several tests to determine the types of worms affecting the doggy. Some of the major types of worms affecting the pooch include: tapeworms, hookworms, whipworms, and roundworms.
Each worm has a slightly different way of entering into the body of the tyke. This makes the symptoms distinct. Roundworms get transmitted through the dirt of faeces contaminated with roundworm eggs. About every puppy is born with roundworms since most mothers have dormant larvae in their tissue. The worst thing that roundworms can do is cause liver damage or intestinal blockage while a light infection can cause dull coat and skin along with a pot-belly.
Hookworms get transmitted from infected faeces or directly through the skin when the dog walks in wet grass or sand where larvae is present. The symptoms include weakness, diarrhoea, and in severe cases anaemia. Whipworms are transmitted by ingesting eggs that live in the soil. It causes inflammation of the intestine. Some of the serious problems include anaemia, lethargy, dehydration and weight loss. Tapeworms are caused through infected soils, from ingesting fleas while self-grooming or even while eating rodents. It causes nervousness, abdominal pain, vomiting, weight loss, or severe itching around the anus.
There are different types of deworming treatments available for your canine. But the most important thing is to determine the best amongst the rest so that your tyke can get the best deworming treatment.
Let us now look at the two best deworming treatments for canines:
Milbemax For Dogs

The two active ingredients present in this deworming treatment include Milbemycin oxime and praziquantel. Milbemycin Oxime disrupts the nerve transmission of internal parasites and kills them. While praziquantel gets rid of tapeworms by causing muscle spasms and attacked by enzymes. This results in total excretion of intestinal worms from the dog's system through the natural process.
Drontal For Dogs
Drontal Allwormer is one of the most preferred deworming treatments for dogs. It comes in a chewable form with different types of flavours including pork and liver. It helps in treating multiple parasites including hookworms, roundworms, whipworms and tapeworms. It is very easy to administer. In fact, dogs take these tablets as a treat. Praziquantel, Febantel and Pyrantel Embonate are the three active ingredients present in Drontal.
Praziquantel has a profound effect on the skin of the parasite thus getting rid of it from the dog's immune system. Febantel is effective against whipworms. While Pyrantel Embonate causes a sudden contraction in hookworms that results in them losing the grips on the intestinal walls. They get removed from the dog's intestine through natural process.
