English Bulldogs - What You Need to Know About These Wonderful Dogs
- 13/03/2015
English Bulldogs are a famous and popular breed of dog that are descended from the historical and ancient breed of Asian Mastiff. The breed as we know it today was developed in England by breeders who bred Mastiffs and Pugs to create this charming breed that is full of character and makes a genuinely loyal pet.
English Bulldogs are small, they have adorable faces and are popular around the world as a great choice for a loyal and loving member of the family. The history of this breed dates back many years, another feature which many English Bulldog enthusiasts value about the breed.
An English Bulldog will grow to between 12 - 16 inches in height and it will weigh around 49 to 55 pounds. Their life span is approximately eight years. They have short haired coats that are smooth so they do not require large amounts of grooming time and you will not experience a shedding problem as can be the case with other breeds.
Although some people think these dogs are fierce, this is not true. As is the case for any do, it all depends on how they are cared for and trained. English Bulldogs are great watch dogs because they are alert and loyal. They are always wary of strangers who approach the home but it is important to know that they do not attack. As a result, they make wonderful family pets. A well trained and well looked after Bulldog will be loyal, well-behaved and full of character and charisma. There is no doubt this breed makes a superb addition to the family. Young families love this breed because they are so good when they are trained properly and because they are small they fit into modern day living easily. They become a part of the family instantly and most owners become avid enthusiasts of the breed once they have owned one Bulldog.
The puppies are gorgeous! And they are playful and full of interest in the world around them. At this early stage, proper training is essential to ensure you have a well-behaved dog that interacts well with the family and behaves well in public. If you are unsure about training your bulldog, speak to your breeder, they will be able to give you advice on where to go for the right sort of training that will be effective.
If you want to own your own English Bulldog, first read as much as you can about the breed. Understanding the breed will help you give your own dog everything it needs. The best breeders will give you information on care, training and on the lineage of your dog. This will help you to understand how special these dogs are and how important the right care for them is.
Don't forget, dogs are a member of the family and adjustments will need to be made by all of you when you welcome a new puppy in to your home. The English Bulldog is an increasingly popular breed and this is because of the hard work and dedication from the leading breeders. They work tirelessly to educate people about the breed and take great care when finding forever homes for their puppies.
