Breed Description
The Toy Manchester Terrier is a small and agile dog with long tapering head. This breed of compact built has a long muzzle and erect ears. The smaller version, these dogs range between 10-12 inches tall, and weighs around 6-8 pounds.

Coat
The Toy Manchester Terrier has a short, glossy, and dense coat with mahogany tan markings. The texture of their coat is soft and never rough. They come in black and rich tan colors.

Activity
The small stature of the Toy Manchester Terrier makes these active breed easy to exercise. Despite their size, these agile dogs are extremely fast, and maintain their well-renowned skill in catching vermin. They love playing catch, and will benefit from a lot of variations of fetching.

Temperament
The Toy Manchester Terrier thrives on human companionship and attaches deeply with the family. These terriers are very intelligent, charming, and easy to train. They excel at agility training and obedience trials. With snappish and headstrong tendencies, these dogs should never be left unsupervised with other small animals, and should always be introduced to children while they are still puppies.

Care
The Toy Manchester Terrier requires occasional brushing to minimize loose hair. Their ears and teeth should be checked and cleaned constantly. These short-coated dogs will not tolerate extreme climates, and should never be left outside for long. They are known to be prone to epilepsy, glaucoma, Legg-Calve-Perthes disorder, Von Willbrands disease, cataract, and patella luxation.

Training
Despite the fact that this breed is a terrier, the Toy Manchester Terrier is relatively easy to train. Being a terrier, they tend to be willful and stubborn at times. Although they may be too smart for their own good, they will be eager to please their masters. Somewhat challenging to train, being firm and consistent in training is what they need. These active little dogs should be properly exercised before starting any training sessions. It should also be kept short and interesting, with a lot of variations. Mixing training lessons with play will keep these terriers asking for more. They do not respond to any punitive training methods, and will do best with persistence, patience, and respect. These tiny terriers are very loyal, yet they are commonly one-person dog. So, it is important to give them early and intensive socialization to avoid having an aloof Toy Manchester Terrier.

Character
Toy Manchester Terriers make delightful family pets. But, it is rather recommended to those families with older and gentle children as they could easily snap at kids who play rough. Overall, these terriers are lively, very intelligent, and vigilant dogs.
