Popularly known as Westies, The West Highland dogs are part of the terrier larger family of breeds, so they basically posses most of this breed's characteristics. Hence, Westie is not really a lapdog - and if that is what you are seeking, this is not the right dog for you. They are impeccably white and small dogs looking extremely cuddly, but they don't like to be held or handled for long periods of time.
