The 3 Deadliest Foods to Feed Your American Eskimo
- 15/11/2010
Eskies can eat almost anything. Of course that doesn't mean they should though! While we both like to indulge our Eskies from time to time with human food - there are some things you should never feed your Eskie. The probability of it being fatal, becomes too high to risk. Especially, over a bite of food. So here's a short list of the deadliest things you can feed your Eskie.
Alcohol - At the top of the list is booze. Yeah, its not actually "feeding" - but its being consumed no less. But there are owners out there that do give their pets booze to drink. Out of curiosity, indulgence - whatever. Alcohol is known to be fatal to Eskies. Especially if they're around toy size. Alcohol can really mess with your Eskie's heart and nervous systems. And you can probably expect things such as slow reaction time, unusual excitement, staggering and/or a need to relieve itself. But how alcohol really kills Eskies - is when it sends your Eskie into cardiac arrest. So no booze!
Chocolate - Delicious, and delectable for humans. But it is bad for Eskies. The problem with Chocolate is that the chemicals found in chocolate actually eats away at your Eskie's nervous system and heart muscles. Now, this isn't as lethal as alcohol. But the side effects are still dangerous. Side effects of chocolate on your Eskie includes vomiting, irritability, diarrhea and even more hyper-ness (as if they weren't hyper enough!). Treats like specially made Dog cookies and biscuits will have to substitute chocolate as sweet treats.
Coffee - Why you would give a hyper dog an opportunity to become more hyper is beyond me. But the caffeine, theobromine and other chemicals found in coffee are particularly toxic to American Eskimos. And - you guessed it - they attack your Eskie's nervous systems and heart muscles.
As you can see, the recurring theme in these dangerous foods is that they all end up attacking your Eskie's immune system and heart. So I hope this article has been of some help to you - and adds a few more years to your Eskies life!
