Saluki Greyhound

The Saluki Greyhound is also known as the Persian Greyhound.
Build and Size.
- These exceptional dog's can grow to about 28 inches tall (70 cm) and they can weigh approximately 20 kg (44 pounds.)
- This particularly fast dog has a long neck, narrow head and back and their stomach has what could be classed as a typical tucked in look normally associated with Greyhounds.
- To help with the beautiful stance this breed have rather long and straight legs.
The Coat.
- This breed has a very soft and smooth coat that when clean can appear quite glossy.
- At the back of the body the hair can grow slightly longer.
- The colour of their coat can come in a variety of different colours combinations including shades of red, beige and also a golden colour.
Grooming the Coat.
- As long as you groom their coat on an occasional basis their coat should retain the glossy appearance.
Character, Temperament and Disposition.
- It is very important that you use obedience training to train this dog. However, due to their sensitivity you need to be quite sensitive during the training process.
- This breed are also very independent and they do not readily submit to people.
- Their nature is gentle and they can appear quite reserved when around strangers or other people that they do not know or have not met on a regular basis.
Appropriate and suitable Surroundings.
- This breed of dog should not be kept in a flat due to their size and their need for large spaces.
- They also need regular exercise including regular walks and stimulation.
- This breed are supposed to be quite comfortable when mixing with their own breed and children, but as with all dogs regular and early socialization is important so that you tackle any problem behavior early.
