Pekingese Dog Obedience Training

  • 18/06/2013

Dogs as they say are man's best friend. The fact however depends on the training given to any dog. Even the finest breed of dogs would be no good if not well-trained. If you are thinking of bringing a Pekingese dog in your family you might as well consider training it well. Having a dog around you and your family becomes way simpler with proper training.

There have been many studies on training dogs all of which define efficient tricks to discipline your pet to avoid the risks of biting and other behavioral issues. Obedience training involves a set of steps to teach your dog some good behavior. Here are a few of the most desirable obedience behavior in Pekingese dogs:

1) Heel and making your dog walk on a loose leash: The basic training of heeling makes your dog walk directly to your left. Your pet will automatically follow your footsteps and move along you without any effort from your side. A loose leash on the other hand means that your dog moves freely as long as there is no tension on the leash. Heeling is thus something you must get your dog trained for.

2) Sit:This is one of the most important obedience behaviors as it lets you have complete control over your dog. They will not dare move or jump at whatsoever if given the sit command. This also lets your dog be completely attentive towards you.

3) Down:This command lets your dog lie down still till you order him otherwise. It's very effective for giving some rest to your dog. The down position also lets you know clearly if the dog wishes to get up. Teaching this command to your dog makes teaching it the stay command pretty easy.

4) Leave it:This command is often taken lightly by most dog owners all over the globe. However this is a very important command indeed. Ordering your dog to leave something aside and focus all its attention on you is something you often want. You will need to teach your dog this command if you want to take him out on rounds in parks and other public places.

5) Quiet:There are times when your dog keeps barking at the site of something distracting. Making him shut up is then a humongous task indeed. However if you train your dog to obey the quiet command you must have a complete control of the situation.

These are just a few of many obedience training tricks for Pekingese dogs. Longing to have complete control over your dog? This is one thing you definitely want to gift your dog.
