Vile Dog Meat Trader Forces Hosepipe Down Helpless Mutts’ Throat
- 12/06/2017
Filmed at a dog market in Yanshi county in Central China’s Henan Province, the man has two dogs in a small cage mounted on the back of his motorised trike.
He is holding one animal by the snout, while it has a hosepipe forced down its throat and is having water pumped into its stomach.
The miserable animal's head is trapped between the cage door and wall so that its unnamed callous owner can carry out this abuse.
He opens it briefly to get the dog's head back inside the cage and then rides off with it and its cage-mate, to sell them to a restaurant.
The dogs are sold by weight so it's believed he increases his profit by weighing his produce down as much as possible.
The unnamed person who made the film said they saw some dogs having been forced to drink so much that they bled.
Eating dog is not illegal in China, but selling dog meat for consumption breaks Chinese food safety law.
The Animal Epidemic Prevention Law (2013 Amendment) states that all dogs must be vaccinated if they are to be sold or transported, but dogs sold as meat are not vaccinated, which means they have been sold illegally.
Despite this legal grey area, ten million dogs are slaughtered every year as food in China.
In April this year, Taiwan became the first Asian country to ban the eating of dog as well as cat meat.
