As Ireland's Pit Bull Terrier Association (IPBTA) was founded purely to promote responsible dog ownership and educational purposes, We are pleased to announce that we will be joined by members of the DSPCA (Dublin Society for prevention of cruelty to animals) at our next meetup. 

The animal welfare organization has offered to microchip all dogs that attend our walk regardless of breed from 2pm till 4pm at an affordable price of just 15euro pair dog.

Microchips are a permanent identification for your dog that will not wear out, fade or get lost. The size of a grain of rice, your dog will not even know it's there.

Microchipping your pet is something that is becoming more and more popular these days. Dogs that are lost that have been microchipped have a 90% chance of being returned to their owners. That is a much higher percentage than those that have not been microchipped. The way microchipping works is we put a chip under the skin of the animal that can identify that animal for the rest of his/her life. After the chip is inserted under the skin the details and information is sent to a company and they register the pet under the corresponding microchip number.

If for some reason the pet would ever be lost, any veterinary clinic, dog pound, or Animal shelter will have a scanner that can scan this chip and pick up his/her number, then they can match the number back to the pets owner. It is a great way to prevent your pet from ever being lost for good, IPBTA think it’s an excellent idea, It is also very inexpensive to do and would like to thank the DSPCA for their support and help in offering this to our members at an affordable price. 

IPBTA will also be providing bite prevention leaflets on the day, we believe the only way forward is to educate and provide the public with important information in relation to children and dog safety.

What to bring

A muzzle, good strong leash, and something to drink for your dogs.

Please bring some bottles of water as it can get very hot for the dogs if its a sunny day, there is NOWHERE to get water if we run out so bring at least a liter OR 2 pair dog, drinking bowels will be provided.

Again it doesn't matter if your dog is not good with other dogs, unsociable dogs are more than welcome, these meet up's can be very beneficial to them and help to socialize them in a safe controlled environment. Our meet up is to have fun, promote responsible ownership and the positive image of the bully breeds, training tips along the way if you require some.
