Major Upgrade to www.IrishDogs.ie
- 08/01/2010
Welcome to the new look for www.IrishDogs.ie which is in the process of undergoing a major facelift and redesign.
This is currently at the Beta 1 stage and is due to go live by the end of January 2010.
Major redesign features include a completely new User Interface facilitating easier navigation and a consistent look and feel throughout the site. Any individual design update can now be reflected, automatically, through the whole site without having to individually change pages or articles.
Primary changes that will be visible to visitors is that the whole site has a more unified look and feel. Also loading times and delivery to the visitors' browser will be greatly increased as all the design and interface features only need to be loaded once, on first entry to the site.
1. All the Articles and Breed Information is now stored in a fully searchable database. All articles now have comment fields and the newest articles are displayed on the Home Page.
2. Images and image galleries will provide for greater photographic and video ability (and YouTube videos can be embedded as well) throughout the site.
3. All the Services have been grouped together to allow for easier searching for Vets, Groomers etc.. This is being run in the background from a database machine.
4. The new site is being hosted on Blacknight Servers residing in Dublin with up to date server technology based on Windows Server 2008 platform. This should provide for faster connect and delivery times for all visitors based in Ireland, the UK and the United States.
5. The serving of Advertising is unified with Google AdSense advertisements being shown in specific predetermined areas. The IrishDogs .ie Ads Network banner advertising will now show Home Page advertising from a unified platform.
6. The Community Forum is currently running on Version 9.65 and will undergo a major version upgrade during the 1st quarter of this year to Version 10 which will include the ability to add blogging capabilities.
