Our Rules are incredibly straightforward, understandable and VERY short ...

We do not permit:

Sexual or offensive language or content.

Harassment of other users.

Abuse or disruption of our services.

The impersonation of IrishDogs staff.

Absolutely ANY Advertising of third party services or websites whether in the actual Forum or by PM, unless authorised by us in advance and in writing. (This includes, not exclusively,  advertising of Training, Puppies for Sale or Breeding etc). However, you are permitted to use your signature to link to 'commercial' sites that you own.

THAT'S ALL FOLKS!! QUICK AND SIMPLE!!

I see that a link to a DVD has been removed today, in keeping with the forum rules and I just wondered, if we now put a link up to DoneDeal to show a particular dog for sale, will that be removed?  I'm not having a go, I'm just interested, as those links go up quite often, and also when people are looking for a particular item, i.e. a dog bed, people will often put links up, can we still do that or not?

Thanks.

Sorry, perhaps I need to clarify my 'no advertising' policy which has always been in force on this forum.

Direct and blatant personal advertising actually in posts is absolutely forbidden. However, you can make reference to an advertisement in a post (such as the Donedeal and dog bed as mentioned).

BUT I do allow you to use a signature as an advertisement with URL linking in it (as long as its within common decency bounds etc. and doesn't violate any other of the Rules).

I hope that's made it clear as mud?!

Just so that everyone is fully aware, the ONLY type of "advertising" that is allowed on this forum in terms of the signature is as I have shown here (in my own signature).

You can go to your Profile and add the URL and IMG tags so that this will show correctly.

This can be changed in your "Profile Information" and should look something like this:

Start your [URL= and then immediately after that have your [IMG= then close the [/IMG and at the end close the [/IMG

Voila!

That way - your picture and the landing page are incorporated in to the one image. No words. No advertising. No moans and editing from me!!

Hi

I'm a new member and was wondering if it would be ok to ask your members to answer a short questionaire for me. I am considering starting a new dog related business and am doing some market research, I do not mention the name of the business nor what I plan to sell.

Thank you

You can go ahead and post the website URL so our members can have a look at the questionnaire. It's just blatant self aggrandising that isn't permitted!

Hi Peter,

I replied to a girl who was looking for info on what to feed her puppy on the forums and gave her the link to Natures Menu - sorry! just realised that's a no-no ~ you can go in straight away and delete my post - sincerest apologies, i just read the rules and saw that that's not acceptable.

Apologies again,
Paula

That's ok Paula as far as I know...it's not as though you are the manufacturer of the dogfood and trying to promote your product. It's self promotion of one's own product/service/business for the purpose of profit making that's not allowed....

There is a great need for sarcasm font.

Hi Peter,

I tried posting a new topic and was prompted I didn't have permission.

I am a mmber of the site...could you explain why this may have happened?

I wanted to advertise my mobile dog grooming unit for sale.....assuming that's allowed?

Can you advise please?

Many thanks,
Ide Fagan

To stop any possible "spamming" newbies are unable to post in the "For Sale" section until they have at least 10 posts.

I am sorry about this rule, but it was getting silly in the past with people trying to sell all sorts of junk and irrelevant stuff on their first visit here.

No worries Mark. You CAN use link URLs in your signature ... but simply are NOT allowed to blatantly advertise in any of the posts throughout the forum. Simple as that Wink

Not to worry, Mark. You can use the URL signature link ... but just do not blatantly advertise in any post in the entire forum.
