Hi all
I tried to upload a picture of Milly (border collie) but it keeps telling me it may contain malicious code even though I checked it. However She is 21 months old and still very much a puppy. When we first got her about 3 weeks ago, she was housetrained or so I thought. In the last four days she has started soiling the floor (number ones and twos) at night time. I thought we were doing all the right things, not feeding her too late, letting her out before bedtime etc. Can anyone tell me how best to deal with this. Thanks Niall

Hi Niall, welcome to the forum. I'd personally go back to the ''puppy method'' with her. Set your alarm to go off every 2 or 3 hours durimg the night to take her out to the loo. No fuss or anything when you go down to her, just straight outside to the loo, wait outside with her until she goes, loads of praise in your best hyper happy voice when she does, and then straight back inside to bed. It's not the most pleasant of things to be doing, especially standing outside at 3am in Feb, but it's a pretty fool proof method. It shouldn't take more than a fortnight or so to work. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I spoke to someone and they suggested that Milly might be doing it because she has an upset stomach, I was told to increase the ratio of dry food to wet food, there seems to be some truth to this as her stools were soft. The last two nights have been clean, so hopefully we are in the clear.
Thanks for your help. |
