Need advice please

   Hi everyone, I am new here so hope you can help me. 
I have a rough haired collie who is about 3 years old and female. I have had her for about 3 months, before that she was tied up at a farm and not bothered about apart from food. 
She has come on well can sit, etc although pulls a lot on the lead. She is very affectionate towards me, she is timid, not keen on strangers especially the postman. 
I thought we were doing well until yesterday when my son went past her she jumped at him and bit his coat. He is 19 so not a child, I was taken aback and am worried in case this happens again. The only thing I can think of was she had a cracker buried in her bed and perhaps thought he was going to take it. I think she can sense my worry as she's a bit off with me and not following me about as usual.
I am nervous around her now and I think she senses it, I really like this dog and want to do my best for her so any advice is really appreciated.
