We made the decision to have our Murphy pts this afternoon.  She has been struggling for the last few months on her back legs and over the weekend she seemed to get worse.  This morning she couldn't stand up at all, and usually when I'd help her up she'd be okay, today she wasn't, she just kept falling back over.  She also refused her food this morning, a nice smelly pedigree pouch, not like her at all.  So she went to the bridge this afternoon at the vets, eating ham and with the people she loved around her.  It was very peaceful, she just drifted off to sleep.

She was my first dog as a grown up, a rescue from a place in North London. She was so small she could sit in my hands when I got her.  I collected her at lunch time and took her back to work, where she promptly peeed on the carpetEmbarrassed  She was a typical springer cross, totally mad.  When she was a puppy she snapped her lead and ran off, getting swiped by a car on the way, but she bounced off the side and was fine.  She had operations on both of her back legs through her life for cruciate ligament damage.  She used to get a skin complaint and was the biggest cry baby ever, before the lotion was even on her skin she'd be crying.

She has been such a big part of my life for so long, I'm really going to miss her.

She was a surfing championLOL

A hippy with her VW camper

And a nanny to Sky when she arrived.

Oh Bramble my heart sank when I saw the title Cry So sorry to hear about your loss, your house must seem so empty tonight despite all the other dogs. Not much anyone can really say to help at the moment I know, but just to let you know I'm thinking of you xx

Karen

I am so sorry to hear such news. It is always very hard when you lose your "first born" ... not that any subsequent loss is any easier.

May he enjoy bounding about at the Rainbow Bridge.

so so sorry to hear this Bram. It's the hardest thing we have to do as dog owners...saying goodbye to our babies. At least you know you have spared her anymore suffering and she is free now to run around with all the other wonderful dogs gone before her.

Take care of yourselves.

RIP Murphy....run free at the bridge

I'm so very sorry to hear about your girl. The tears are tough but every one shed is just a drop in the sea of love we have for our dogs. The decision really is the ultimate act of respect for our dogs and one that hurts but has to be done. Good girl Murphy. Enjoy life over the bridge.

I'm so sorry to hear about this Karen... Murphy is that special foundation that your love of dogs has been built on....  She was a very lucky girl to have had the long and adventurous life she had.

RIP Murphy....

My thoughts are with you. But they never leave your heart.
If your dog doesn't like someone, you probably shouldn't either
