Hi there sparrow and welcome to ID. No, your post will only require approval from a Moderator or myself until you have posted 10 times. This icompletely stops people spamming the forum and posting inappropriate content ... most spammers will give up quite quickly if their posts don't appear immediately!

It used to be unbelieveably busy here but don't know why it slowed down. I love the Irishdogs community and I always am lurking about ....maybe I should post more often though. Its one of the great dog forums where you can actually have an opinion or make a recommendation without being warned or banned :)

Hiya Suzi ... Typically ALL forums go through slow fazes. And, since this is "the oldest" Irish Dogs forum formed (well before others) in 2002 I am not altogether surprised.
We get old members who are "tired" and then new members come along and re-invigorate the gene pool. It's just one of those things. But, of course, the oldies but not so mouldies have apart to play in helping out the newbies ... as long as they're prepared to reiterate some of the stuff they've written so many times before ... new people ARE ... new!
Unfortunately, a little bit of back-biting/politicking seemed to have taken over a while back and, whilst I try not interfere in individual postings, it appears to have had a negative affect on some members. But, as I always warn ... if it's too hot in the kitchen ... some people just aren't able for the "honest" replies that their posts warranted.
How and ever, IrishDogs IS going from strength to strength on the site with an average of 1,200 NEW visitors EVERY SINGLE DAY!! Whilst the Forum may be in a somewhat "dormant state" the main site is experiencing high numbers of new visitors, especially from the United Kingdom and the United States ... visitors from over 193 different countries have visited the "new" site (since its re-design in 2010). Of that, frankly, I am proud ...
The Forum has always been open to everyone of all nationalities who have "doggie" questions/queries and I honestly believe we've been able to cater to most (non-combative/spammer) visitors. I'm not in the "game" of stifling comment or opinion (as opposed to other sites) and the Rules of this Forum are explicitly simple. Howver, I will not tolerate personal insults and general denegration of members ... perhaps that's why some contentious members moved away to better "hunting" grounds where they could "bait" less knowledgeable dog members.
Either way ... we're still here answering queries/questions from everyone who bothers to post and next year will celebrate 10 years of Doggie Knowledge. NO OTHER web site in the World (other than a couple of American sites) will BE ABLE to boast that longevity ...

Yes we have been a bit quiet for a bit.
I really should put up some photos of my latest fosters. A lovely 4.5 month old black greyhound pup and a rather unfortunate 8 year old brindle lady who was taken of the streets in rather bad condition.
Even if Im not posting Im always reading. Still think this site is the best.

I'm always reading but don't post as much as I used to. Used to love it here when it was really busy, pity it's gone quiet really. I must post up some more recent pics.
Hang around OP, if more people did then we might get it back to the good old days!

Hopefully this place gets busy again, it'd be nice to have an Irish forum on the go that talks about showing here as well as everything else doggy :)

I come back and forth ...I will often state it as I see it and not mince words not good for the people but its not them I am here to help it is the woofers!........not here to spout here to try to help and share...I can't post pictures as I have taken with too high numbers to and just never get around to photobucket before trying to post so thats why I have none on lately....But I do come back....only thing is I find it hard to catch up when I do.@PETER ...I hate the "latest forum" posts set up if only one thread is being responded to it keeps appearing so difficult for catchup unless you what to go through each topic or go search for latest topics!!.and that bliddy pop up thingy is coming up again for me and I already am set up to receive the newsletter.and yes I was logged in!
