Well I recently got a male boxer, he's 2. Loves everyone, loves other dogs eats great and all the rest! BUT, when it comes to the walk... Not so great
He is absolutely terrified of being on the street. He was brought up in the country side so isnt used to the traffic and noise etc! Help! What can i do to stop this???

Loads! mine are little mites and one i plan to show,,,when I went to the building he quaked tail tucked in and lay .(not funny dragging a white mop type dog across the manky floor) So I just made him go there with no "aww its ok poor baby",,,in fact i made it worse for him I brought him over to where there were huge dogs barking and making a fuss.Let other dogs sniff the butt off of him :)Let other puppies pounce on him,, I brought him out in the car and when I found somthing really noisey i stopped and took him out ,,,,,I walked him past generators back and forward till he barely looked at them, road works, loud cars with broken exhausts, asked kids bouncing basketballs to do it when I was training him on the street, past racing bikes into crowds of kids and made his experiences a nightmare for him. Now he is starting to come around BIG time,,,After three weeks of "intensive exposure" I can bring him into the hall now and his tail is in the air and he is prancing around,,,but somtimes if there is a really loud piercing bark from a fox terrier or a tibetan he hits the deck,,LOL but that is when he is caught off guard. You need to immerse him in his fears kindly bravely but confidently and with prais no "aww poor baby" that only reinforces his fears. Be nice to him though :),,,Oh and having a loverly sausage of chicken in your pocket to use as a bribe is great too!,,,best of luck

Ha Ha LB you are so hard, I would give in in a heartbeat! It is the only way though. Mine take it in turns to be afraid of the hoover or the hair dryer and I know they're not. I actually think they're copying the cats cos when the hoover comes on and one cat runs, the two dogs look at each other and if they're not too comfy on the couch they'll run too, if not they just go back to sleep, it's all an act with mine.
