Hi all,
I am just wondering what are people's experiences with classes and the costs of classes. Any I have enquired about are pretty steep. One was a series of 10 classes for €300.

In England, I know that obedience classes are just a few quid and there is a greater availability too. Why is that?

I had mine at puppy socialisation and it was €145 for 6.  I think obedience was around the same price but not exactly sure.

its a shame that dog owners in Ireland dont have a choice of dog classes to go to.
Robbins has told me that classes are expensive in Ireland and that there arent many around either.
I used to go to two class am from England now I go to one class on a tuesday night we go for 7.15pm til 9.pm and it cost £1 to the comunity centre and another £1 to the dog trainer.
Robbins told me that it costs a lot more in irekand to pay for classes how can people charge over the odd to people who want to train there dogs.
I feel sorry for people in Ireland who cant access or dont have classes to attend to

I started obedience with my "problem" springer spaniel. it was €120 for 5 x 2 hour classes. he came along fantastic. we are now in beginners agility and we are both loving it. They charge €20 for a 2 hour class in agility and it's pay as you go, so you don't sign up and miss out if you miss a week - I thought this was fab!!

Robbins - just noticed where youre based.

In Dublin there is classes for ringcraft/obedience etc on a Tuesday night & its E5 per class.

I do flyball on a Wednesday night (ok not been for abit but back tomorrow) & I do agility on a Sunday & they are also both E5 per class..... Ive been doing them for 3 yrs now & the prices have never changed. Well worth the E5 - esp for Agility which we do (competion class) 10 - 12noon!

Hi Libster,

In estuary Kennels in Malahide. They had a few winners at the IKC comp on Paddy's day and they have strong ties with the WTCI. :)

Dog owners in Ireland do have a choice of dog classes to go to, Cherises goes to Estuary kennels and pay the fees there, others go elsewhere and pay the fees there.  I really wouldn't base an entire country on one person's experiences.

I don't live in Dublin, I live in Sligo, which is on the other side of the country and used to do agility with my dogs, it was €5 a class.  I also used to live in the UK and have attended many dog classes through the years, and the ones you're attending are very cheap.  I was paying £3 for obedience 10 years ago, my sons went to good citizen classes, and they were £8 each.

We've only started Libster (4 weeks) so it may be a good while before we're at comps, but sure we may be around observing and getting used to the atmosphere - especially with Woody's "affliction" of freaking out with dog's he doesn't know! Slow baby steps! :) But I will bring the tea and biccies!  lol
