Ever seen a cross between a Dachshund and a Labrador retriever? If not, you're in for a treat! There exists one of the cutest dog breeds ever to walk on the face of this earth and they are called - Daschund Labs. These dogs individually are so amazing that when available in one mix-breed, it makes for an interesting canine, to say the least.

One is a hunter and the other a lovable furry pawed friend. The one balances out the other topping it all off with the endless loyalty that you get from a Labrador. Not all mixes will turn out the same though, sometimes there may be more of one than the other. The loyalty and eagerness will always remains the same, however. The dispositions of the Labrador, if you are not already aware of it, can be found on this interesting read.

If you have been contemplating adopting one of these poochies, look no further than this insightful article which lays out a few fun facts for you regarding these dogs. But always be sure to do your research about any animal you plan to adopt so when you do bring him home to join the family, he does feel a part of it immediately.

Let’s jump right in, shall we?

Fun Fact No.1. Looking at their pros and cons, we can confidently say that this mix will make an extremely friendly and loyal companion. It will have a very unique appearance from the rest of his counterparts, but beautiful none the less. They are very intelligent and learn things very quickly, so teaching him tricks will be a breeze. Lastly, he will crave attention from all family members and love, which goes without saying.

Some of the cons however include they do tend to adopt an aggressive trait in them. If you're locked out of your house, good luck trying to break back into it with him around. They can be prone to stress and anxiety and they do have an obnoxious bark which can be frequent if they don’t get what they want.

Fun Fact No.2. Their looks may seem a bit odd, but cute none the less. They have a short and fine single-layered coat which can easily be brushed once a week. Some of them can have a slightly wavy coat too. They come unique and varied shapes so some may turn out longer than others. Any breeder would agree that the possibilities of variations are endless with this mix.

They can range in standing anywhere between 15 to 25 inches tall and can get up to about 40 pounds in weight. The shorter they are the less they will weight.  The colour of their coats has primarily been a combination of black and white but some have turned out solid black and even yellowish or brown. Some say their coat is water-resistant or have an oily coat that is water proof, and more on this topic has been included here:

Fun Fact No.3. Because of the size difference between the lab and the Daschund, the breeders often need to induce artificial insemination to breed them. It is most likely that traits for each dog are poured into your furry, and things such as the retrievers' love for water and swimming (along with that water-resistant coat) may rub off on it, or their enhanced sense of smell because these are both hunters by nature. Be sure to expect a wild card when adopting them, not everything will be certain and adaptability is key here.

Fun Fact No.4. They will have tons of energy so be sure you want one that loves to play and be taken out to the park for a ball throw or a walk. These breeds are born for the outdoor environment and as such having a garden would be advisable.  Don’t forget, these daschund lab dogs are intelligent as well, so any games that tap into this will be graciously welcomed by them and keep them busy for hours, such as puzzle games for dogs.

They do love a good cuddle so once he is worn out from the visit to the park, be sure to let him into your arms where he will seek some comforting slumber till the next day. Keep in mind the space that is needed for them to run around so if you live in an apartment building this may not be the pet for you.
