Buy a Trained Malinois for Sale or a Puppy?

  • 26/01/2014

When you are looking for a Malinois for sale you should ask yourself the question of whether you are looking for a trained dog for sale or a quality puppy. In today's market you are able to find both and, depending on your goals, you may find that one is more suited than the other.

Malinois For Sale - Buying a Pre-Trained Dog:

Pros - In buying a completely trained Belgian Malinois you can avoid the problems of house training your dog, you can avoid destruction issues, and other behavior problems associated with having a puppy.

In having a trained dog you can also have a dog that is highly obedient from day one in your household. Imagine what it would be like to invite a dog into your home and have that dog be highly obedient to all of the commands you give.

Another benefit to buying a trained dog is that most Malinois for sale also have protection dog training. This is a valuable asset to any home that is hoping to keep family and house protected.

Cons - Many people feel like they miss out on the bonding process if they buy a dog that is already an adult and trained. While this can be mitigated with good training it is a valid concern.

Also, with a completely trained dog for sale the prices will typically be far higher than with a puppy. It is not uncommon to invest 5 figures or more into a trained dog.

Malinois For Sale - Buying a Malinois Puppy:

Pros - When buying a Malinois puppy you will almost always pay less than what you would for a trained adult. Also, with a puppy, you are able to mold the dog into the type of dog that you want. In starting your training efforts from a young age you can get a well trained dog with your customizations.

Cons - The downside to a puppy is that you have a lot of risk. Not all puppies turn out to be great adult dogs. If you are looking to get a puppy that you can train to be a protection dog or guard dog you may find that not all puppies end up being capable.

Also with a puppy you have a great deal more work than with buying a pre trained dog. There is much more training to take into consideration.

Consider these things before inviting your new canine companion into your new home.
