Who are “Pet sitters”?
Pet sitters are trained individuals who take care of a diverse range of pets, which includes fishes, ferrets, cats, and dogs, in the absence of the pet owners. Pet sitters take care of the pets either in its own home, or the service provider’s house, or at a designated place such as an organization. Pet sitters differ from boarders or daycares since they provide their service extensively at the clients’ home thereby not disturbing the natural environment of the pet.

o Pets stay happier and less stressed out as they live in their familiar atmosphere.
o Diet of the pets, their playing hours and exercise routines remain undisturbed.

o Pets seem to fall less ill.
o In some extraordinary situations, such as repair at clients’ house or pets suffering from severe illness, pet sitters nurse the pets at their home.
What do Pet Sitters do?
As the definition states, pet sitters take care of the pets in the absence of the pet owners in their familiar environment. Pet sitters often serve multiple visits per day, and in some cases overnight stay as well.
Some essential services provided by Pet sitters involve:
o Feeding and changing the pets’ water bowls.
o Play with the pets and offer exercises, or maybe a walk.
o Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of the pet, and cleaning up the mess caused by the pet as well.
o Administer medications, whenever and wherever required.
Some pet sitters also perform, in addition to the works mentioned above, if requested by the pet owner.
Pet Sitting as a career:
People tend to opt for a career as pet sitter due to a variety of reasons, but the love for animals marks the bottom line. The urge to be one’s own boss, or a desire to leave the corporate world may serve as the critical reason to make an entry in pet sitting. Pet sitters, along with the pets, take care of the owner’s home and belongings as well. Pet sitting is emerging as an industry in the present world, and career as a pet sitter is secure. Pet owners tend to take no tension for their pets when they are out on vacation, a meeting or, plan to spend the night somewhere else.
