7 Must-Have Dog Accessories

Recently adopted a Dachshund? Got three German Shepards you couldn't live without? Having a dog is so rewarding because they are more than just our pets; they become part of our families. And most of us love to show off our furry friends; we feel a sense of pride each time a stranger stops to give them a fuss or ask us questions about them when we’re out on a walk.

In fact, our dogs give us so much love, that sometimes it’s nice to treat them to a new coat or collar. In reality, we know it probably makes us happier than it does them, but it’s always nice to have them looking good. So if you want to treat your dog to something other than a Bonio biscuit this time around, check out the guide below for seven cute accessories you can choose for your pooch this month.

Personalised tags

Tags keep our dogs safe should they get lost, letting others know who to call if they go walk about. But they can also be a really fun accessor too! You can choose the classic metal disk, add some sparkles, or even get custom shapes such as love hearts and dog bones. You can then have these engraved with the dog's name to make them extra personal.

Alternatively, you can choose to have humorous messages on the front such as ‘have your people call my people’ or ‘if you can read this, I will lick you’. Just be sure that you've also put the important information on the back to keep them safe.

Dog Coats

A great fitting coat is perfect for the chillier or rainy days, especially if you’ve got a short haired dog who feels the cold easily. You might want to get a waterproof jacket for when you're out and about, but you can also find some very cute and comfy fleeces for at home too. In fact, they’ll look so adorable that it’s really just about trying not to buy too many - otherwise, your dog might need a bigger wardrobe than you!

Bandanas

People might laugh at the thought, but bandanas for dogs are not only ridiculously cute, but they can also be very practical. If you choose an absorbent material, it can really help to keep your pet cool in the hotter months.

But if it’s solely for the cute-factor, there are a number of retailers out there that offer a range of sizes and materials, so you can find the perfect style for you and your dog. You can even have these personalised with their name!

Harnesses and leads

If your dog is all kitted out with a beautiful collar and tags, they’ll need the lead to match. Got more than one dog? Why not get them matching leads so they look great together. Alternatively, you might want to attach their leads to a harness instead of a collar. There are a number of reasons why harnesses are great accessories for dogs.

Firstly, they can be very cute, plus they’ll give you more control, especially if your pooch likes to pull when you take them out for a walk. It also gives you more to get hold of if they decide to try and dash off. You can go for branded harnesses like Julius-K9 or choose fun patterned versions to match their collar or lead.

Personalised treat bags

This one is really just a handy treat for yourself, but personalised bags to keep your dog treats in can be very helpful on a walk! We’ve all been there; you put your hand in your coat pocket a day later only to find a loose dog biscuit or two. So why not keep them contained with a cute personalised doggy treat bag.
