Dogs have the same DNA and bone structure as the wild Wolf and communicate in the same way. They only look different because of man's interbreeding. In the Wolf pack there is an Alpha male and an Alpha female which have total control of all the decision making within their packs daily life, such as hunting, breeding and marking territory. There is a strict pecking order and everyone knows their job and if a Wolf is disloyal to it's pack then it is time for that Wolf to move on.

We communicate with our dogs in a human way such as greeting them when we arrive home from work or shopping. To a dog this is paying homage to the dog and reasserting their leadership. You may say what is wrong with the dog being the Alpha? Well this is where all the problems arise. Because we communicate to the dog that they are the Alpha they have all the decision making and responsibility of the pack which to your dogs are you and your family. Because a dog does not understand what a car is or a hoover is, it gets very stressed and reacts in different ways such as non-stop barking, aggression, chewing or licking.

Another major problem in our dogs lives today is the small territories they have with rival packs next door. Compare this to one Wolfs pack territory in the wild can stretch 200 square miles! We call this the pressure cooker effect.
