Which Are The Best Dog Brushes
- 25/01/2014
Brushing and grooming a dog isn't as straightforward as it sounds. If you believe you can use any of the one or two types of dog brushes available to groom and brush your dog, you'll be so wrong. Each one of the grooming tools available in the market is intended for a particular use.
Bristle brushes are the original dog brushes. Bristle brushes can be employed on all coat types, and alter according to the spacing between bristles and the length of the bristles. Generally, the longer the hair coat, the more widely spaced and longer the bristles should be.
Also, the tougher the hair, the stiffer those bristles have to be.
Outside the bristle brush types there's a large selection of dog brushes available to help keep your dog looking wonderful. Retracting, stainless-steel pin type brushes are favored for their fast and easy clean up after use. Brush in the direction of hair growth, taking particular care to use delicate strokes with these brush types, as they can actually rip through your dogs coat and cause agony to your dog if used wrongly.
Then, when the pad is chock-full of hair, take away the picked up hair by pushing a button to move the locking lever backward. The hair will then fall from the pins.
The other end of the coarseness range is covered with the Supa Slicka which removes loose hairs from your pets coat fast. The unique soft rubber flexible pad traps loose hairs as it softly grooms your pet.
This brush type may also be used on a damp or dry coat. The curved bristles of the Zoom Groom Brush by Kong are described as being effective at grooming both long and short coats, making the product excellent for multi-breed homes. These have a sturdy, easy-to-grip rubber brush that helps rid coats of loose hair, particularly during bath time. Also, the provider claims that they have got a soft design which makes pets feel a bit like they are getting a massage rather than a brushing.
There are some quite exotic sounding brushes which are made from pure one hundred percent wild pig bristle brushes but they are good to be used on dry hair only. As you brush your pet the idea is that it'll give an energizing skin massage to help excite the oil glands to stop dry skin and will pass out the natural oils across the coat for a more fit, silkier, softer, and shinier coat.
Noted in the list of many pet grooming brushes are the self cleaning brushes, wire mink brushes, nylon bristle brushes, combo pin & bristle brushes and pussy-cat bristle brushes - I kid you not!.
When brushing, be light and take it slow. Be particularly careful when removing mats or tangles. Brushing can and may be an agreeable experience for your pet as the delicate stroking feels great on your pet's skin.
BUT, doesn't take too many unpleasant 'rips ' through their fur to produce snarls. So take care not to make brushing a process your pet will try avoiding, instead of invite from you. The easiest way to increase trust and make this an enjoyable bonding time for you both is to brush your pet frequently, and ideally you should do it daily for most breeds. This prohibits problem mats and tangles from developing.
