Turn Your Backyard Into A Dog's Dream Playground
- 23/10/2017
Having a house and a spacious backyard is a dream for any family, and hopefully, you’ve already achieved to move out from the old apartment. Once you arrive at your new home, you’ll need to decide on how to use the backyard. You can set up a beautiful organic garden, plant some trees, or make a dream playground for your dog. There are plenty of ways of achieving this and those listed below are just the starting points.
Consider Natural Fencing
Once you start working on the fence, keep in mind the safety of your dog and kids. Because of that, it is good to go with some bushes and creeping vines. The whole backyard will look much more natural, and green colour will help everyone relax and enjoy. In case you’re not sharing a fence line with anybody, go ahead and install a couple of viewing bubbles. Both your kids (if you have any) and dogs will love it.
Don’t Forget to Install Marking Posts
You already know what is one of your dog’s favourite activities, so go ahead and set up a few marking posts around the yard. Of course, they will find the spot for this special occasion without your assistance. One of those places can be your grill, so go ahead and forestall this behaviour by placing some large stones and sculptural pieces around the yard.
Designate a Digging Area
Don’t ever yell at your dog while digging holes in your backyard since that’s his natural need. A much better move is to put some effort in creating a special digging area. You should go with materials such as mulch or sand so your dog can easily dig through it. Show them that this is the place where they should hide their toys and bones. Another way to discourage your pet from digging is to install dog-friendly and eco-friendly artificial grass.
Make Some Shade
Nobody likes to be exposed to extreme weather. Protect your dog and loved ones by making some shade in the backyard, which will come in handy in rainy days as well. The best way of doing this is to plant some trees, but it will take years until it’s usable. Think about tarps and doghouses instead. Don’t forget to make enough room for your dog, and get rid of everything you don’t really use in the backyard. If you don’t want to throw out your stuff, consider a solution recommended by experts at Supercheap Storage, and rent a remote storage unit for that purpose.
Create Some Paths
Your dog will spend a lot of time wandering around paths, and your goal should be to create them in a way they are safe both for pets and children. There are a lot of materials that can stay cool during the summer, and they include pebbles, bricks, concrete, smooth rocks etc. Of course, keep in mind the safety of your kids as well, so don’t go with paths that are covered with materials which can be easily inhaled.
Final Thoughts
At the end, finish your dog’s playground with some nice touches such as a plate with his name, or fully customized doghouse. Don’t forget to provide him with a source of clean, fresh water and healthy food. Everything mentioned above will make your pet very happy, and satisfy all his needs. Your best friend will know to appreciate your efforts and will enjoy his new sanctuary.
