Tips To Stop Dogs Barking
- 28/02/2017
At first glance
Many of you who own dogs can agree with me that a dog is man's best friend. But how many times have we wondered how we can be able to stop their inappropriate barking? Well first and foremost, we have to know that there are a number of reasons why a dog barks, Including: when requesting to play, when they're being territorial protective and when seeking for your attention. It's the same as dealing with how to keep your dog away from trash, to understand this, you have to know why it goes for the trash in the first place. Basically, barking is their way of communicating but if excess, it can be irritating. Here are some tips to stop the barking:
Some tips that you may need
#1: Give the quiet command.
Immediately your dog's barking gets out of hand, ensure you give it the quiet command. This can either be achieved through a sign using your hands like for instance, raising your hand or through verbal communication like saying stop or hush depending on your preference. Therefore, start training your dog to interpret the quiet command style you decide to use on it when it barks and eventually, it will master it and respond to it.
#2: Do away with what's motivating him to bark
A dog barks due to various factors. If you can remove the factors that are making it bark, then you can easily stop it's barking. For instance, if your dog barks when it sees a visitor, then all you have to do is find a way to separate the dog from the visitor. This means that the dog's motivation to bark is the visitor, so if the dog doesn‘t see the visitor, then it will not be motivated to continue barking.
#3: Introduce more physical activities.
Many at times, we will blame a dog if they bark excessively or inappropriate, but in a real sense, we fail to keep our dogs engaged. If a dog spends the entire day lying around, it will eventually get bored and find that barking is its only way to beat the boredom.
#4: Use of sedatives.
lt is very important to know how to sedate a dog before using this tip. Sedation is putting your dog's brain to rest thus reducing the excitement. To reduce excessive barking, you can go for these medications that will either put the dog to sleep for certain period or calm the dog down.
#5: Seek professional help.
Having a pet is taking an oath to nature and take good care of it. So if your dog is barking and you can't stop the barking using the above methods, then it is your duty as the dog's keeper to seek professional help from a dog specialist on how to go about with its behaviour.
Conclusion
I hope that these tips may help you and your best friends get more closely. If you like it, you can share with your friends.
