Things You Shouldn’t Put Your Dog Through
- 09/12/2017
“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself” – Josh Billings
Thoughtful dog parents are the most unbelievably incredible people in the world. It is amazing how well they can take care of their four-legged friend and easily understand their emotions. Taking care of the dog is one of the most rewarding tasks, but only till you are doing it right.
Dog’s are the most loyal companions and ready to give unconditional love to their owner and in return, it is an owner’s duty to be extra responsible with his friend. Even the most caring and responsible owner sometimes end up doing things which are not in the best interest of their best friend. On the other hand, it will be wise to say that the four-legged companions make their own set of mistakes too.
Some mistakes are forgivable, as it is a known fact that “no one is perfect”, but some of them should be taken into serious consideration. No matter how much of a strong bond you share with your dog some mistakes can’t be fixed and could probably put them in some grave danger.
There are a few things that you should never put your dog through, not even for the sake of having fun, as it can put them at high emotional or physical risk.
1. Hitting Your Dog:
It is normal to think of a certain punishment for your dog when they are going overboard but hitting them should never be an option. Raising your hand will simply weaken the bond that you share with your dog and lower his/her confidence. Like humans, even dogs react in the similar manner and hitting could make them lash out at you and more aggressive.
2. Punishing Them By Locking In A Crate:
Your dog should feel safe and secure in the crate rather than scared or guilty. So, locking them in the crate should be the last thing on your mind while deciding to punish them. If you want your dog to obediently follow your orders to sleep in the crate, then never use it as a source of punishment. It can also make him aggressive and hyper, which will be tough for you to control.
3. Leaving Them Alone In The Car:
It is better to leave your dog at home than taking him someplace you cannot. Leaving them in the car would not only put them at a risk of being taken away by someone, but also the heat inside the car can be harmful to them. The temperature may seem to be mild, but it is still not preferable for your dog that is already warm-blooded.
4. Forgetting The Teeth While Grooming:
There is no doubt that dedicated dog owners use best dog clippers for grooming, but this is not enough to keep the dog healthy and polished. Grooming is not a daily process and is usually done once a week or month, but brushing your dog’s teeth should be done daily. There are several diseases and tooth infections, which usually go unnoticed and create a problem for dogs in the future. So, it’s better to pay keen attention when it comes to your four-legged friend and make it a daily routine to brush his/her teeth.
5. Giving Affection At The Wrong Time:
Well, dogs are an amazing companion to be around and extremely affectionate so it is natural to respond to the affection. But, showing affection at the wrong time will not help them in learning and knowing the right from wrong. Yes, it is true that a guilty puppy face is hard to ignore, yet it would be better to let them feel guilty rather than showing love, especially if it is about biting or nipping.
Dogs are always considered as a man’s best friend and have their own way to communicate. Of course, dogs need fun and excitement, but as an owner, it is your responsibility to see to it that you’re not putting them through the above-mentioned points.
Spread love and strengthen the bond that you share with your four-legged furry friend!
