If you’re about to be a first-time dog or cat owner, you’re in for a bit of a shock when it comes to the shedding problem.

Any pet owner will tell you that there is hair everywhere. It gets into places in your house that you don’t even realize your pet has been.

And if you ever take them out to the park or anywhere like that, there will be shedding in your car too.

It’s a place that’s often overlooked. You think once you’ve cleaned up all the hair out of your furniture and carpet that you’re in the clear.

And then you sit in your car to go to work the next day and see that there’s hair everywhere in there too. We don’t think about it because the car is in the driveway or garage and out of sight.

There are a few things you can do that you can quickly deal with the problem though. Here are a few ways to get rid of all that pet hair from your car.

Duct Tape

This is very quick and easy and chances are you’ve got some duct tape anyway. It’s strong, useful stuff and this is just another reason why.

The best way to do this would be to wrap the duct tape around your hand. Make sure that the adhesive side of it is out.

Then just press the tape firmly against the seats or the interior, wherever you can find these offending hairs.

Depending on how much hair there is in your car, you will probably have to throw away the tape and start with a new strip a couple of times.

One roll of duct tape that you have specifically for this purpose will last you for years and years so this is a great solution.

Vacuum

There are many vacuums that are designed specifically for dealing with pet hair. A lot of regular vacuums aren’t up for the task.

To clean dog hair, you need a vacuum that has strong suction and also that has in-built filters which will allow the dog hair to pass through into the pipe.

Here’s a guide to some of the best options from Groom and Style. As you can see there are a few different types.

For your car, you need one that offers enough manoeuvrability for you to be able to get into the small nooks and crannies in your car.

A lot of the choices will come with attachments designed to deal with corners or narrow surfaces and these should suffice for your car too.

Pumice Stone

This probably isn’t something that you expected to see on the list, but this common beauty product is great for the job.

A pumice stone is usually used to remove dead skin, and because pet hair has a tendency to stick to surfaces like nylon and polyester, the pumice stone can be used to dislodge it.

It works in the same way as it would removing dead skin, and the hair will stick to the stone too. So you’ll just have to clean it off.

If you spray the stone with some fabric softener you can then just wipe the hairs off. It’s one of the most effective ways to remove hairs that are clinging to the fabric.

Conclusion

If you find yourself having to deal with a lot of hair, your pet might be shedding too much. There’s a few reasons why this might be happening and a few ways to deal with it.

But they will still shed a bit, and if you have the right methods you can deal with the excess of hair very easily.
