Your pet and you are used to seeing each other, but your newborn is not! Often, it becomes tricky for parents to initiate this new meet between the two sweethearts. To introduce pets to baby is a lot of background work. We have snuffled the best ways for you to do it.

The feeling of contentment when you bring your baby home or when you bring your pet home is incomparable. The jocundity of both these situations has its essence. But it becomes tricky when you think about how to introduce pets to your newborn. This type of acquainting needs some preparation from before.

You can refer to the following tips to introduce pets to your baby:

●     Medical formalities for your pet – Before the new one steps in your house, you should prepare your pet too! So take it to a veteran and make sure that your pet is not devoid of any essential vaccination and is healthy. Also try to improve your pet’s behavioural issues (if any) or give your pet a neuter, so that it becomes calm. This step is important because you cannot risk your baby coming in contact with any unwanted virus or disease. This is a great base for how you will introduce your pets to a new baby.

●     Prepare the environment – For how you are going to introduce your pets to babies, it is important to do a bit of dress rehearsal for a longer period, before your baby steps in your house. So focus on making your pet equipped with the appearance of a new one. Use a doll as your baby and act. Make your pet realize the approaching appearance of a newborn.

●     Change your routine – As mentioned before, make your pet aware of the appearance of a new one. You can also improve this practice by changing their routine. As you know that once your baby is in your arms, you will have to give him or her more time than you give to your pet. So to make your pet accommodated with this new routine, attune them to it much before the arrival of your new one. Spend only that much of your time with them, that you will be able to give them when you become a parent.

●     Time for homecoming!- How to introduce new pets and baby to each other? When you introduce your baby to your pet, firstly, you meet your pet, give them love and affection. Then bring your baby in. But keep it away from your pet for some time. Your pet will start to observe the delicate caring that you are giving to your new one. Then slowly bring your pet beside your baby. Let your baby stay until your pet is quiet.

●     Getting used to the smell – After the cute, short-timed introduction between your pet and baby, your pet should slowly become used to the baby’s scent. Make them sniff your baby’s blankets. The permanent stay of a new one at home makes your pet used to it and more familiar to it. This will enhance the bond between your pet and your baby later when they start to play together.

It is obvious for parents to wonder when to introduce your pets to baby, as it does not happen within a day. Seeing your pet and toddler play together is a delightful scene, but that only happens when you work on it from the beginning.
