carpet-stain.jpgNo matter how well a pet has been trained, accidents can still occur and these can leave stains and odours on your carpet. If this does happen it is important that you deal with the stain as quickly as possible as this will make the stain easier to deal with.

The first step is to blot the area with paper towels to soak up any excess moisture. If you do not have any paper towels then you can use a cloth or even some old clothes. It just needs to be something that you can throw away when you have finished with it.

Do not worry if you do not have any cleaning materials that deal with this type of stain. Some of the best carpet cleaners for pets can be made with products that you already have around the house.

A solution made from baking soda and vinegar is very effective and getting your carpets clean. The vinegar is an important ingredient because it can help to neutralise the odour. To make this solution you need to mix equal parts of white vinegar and water and then add some baking soda. This can be applied to the carpet as soon as it has been made.

Once you have made your solution then it can be applied directly to the stain. You will need to ensure that you make enough to cover the whole stain. You also want the solution to penetrate deep into the fibres of the carpet. If you have a scrubbing brush then you may find that scrubbing the solution into the carpet helps to make sure that the whole area is covered.

After the solution has been applied then you will need to leave it to dry. You should try and avoid stepping on the patch of carpet that has been affected until it has dried completely. Once it is dry then the area can be vacuumed. Some people find that sprinkling baking soda onto the carpet before vacuuming it really helps to get the carpet looking its best.

Using a steam cleaner is not recommended instead of using best carpet cleaner for pets as the heat from the cleaner can actually bond the odour to the fibres of the carpet and this then becomes very difficult to remove. Following the advice that is given above is probably the most effective way to deal with pet stains and they can be used on any type of carpet or rug.
