Animals kept as pets are extremely close to their caretaker especially dogs who are considered to be emotional support animal and a part of a family. Every outing, every picnic is with them. Dogs have different personalities, some are easy to handle, and some are more aggressive while some are a little less responsive as compared to others. Due to these reasons when you think your dog may require some extra grooming, this is a sign that you need to hire professional help. In order to do so, you also have to make sure that the person you are hiring is not just any random person but a well-trained individual in the field who can work well. This step is quite important as it is a part of building up your puppy’s personality. Following are some of the basic questions that you should ask yourself before hiring anybody.

  • Is a trainer absolutely necessary?
Sometimes when your dog is a little quiet but mostly exhibits a good behaviour, it should stimulate the question whether he really needs a trainer or not. In such a case, maybe you could search up some information online or read appropriate books on how to make your pet active. If however, your dog is more aggressive and biting, that is the sign that he really does need to have a trainer who can groom him according to norms.

  • Be on a lookout for specific characteristics
There are two types of trainers, classical and positive trainers. Classical trainers believe in the theory of dominance and power but that instils fear in your pets. Hence you should make sure that you avoid such people because they use risk aversive methods to train their pets.
Positive trainers, on the other hand, make sure to stick to methods that incorporate fun and energetic games. If they feel they are lacking in discipline, they use methods such as giving them a timeout or taking away certain toys to show them what they did wrong.
  • Conduct a background check
Always do a background check for potential candidates instead of picking out any random person. Make sure they have references that are ready to praise them.

Talk Face to face

it’s alright to be a little intimidating and challenge them to determine that they have enough knowledge about their field. Make sure you like them before the final decision.
