Training, Instructing and Handling: 5 Day Course at Ennis ,Co Clare Ireland This course, covering a module of the Kennel Club Scheme, aims to show appreciation of the complexities involved in teaching, widen experience, understanding and knowledge, increase range of teach...ing methods and learning styles, show understanding of the many aspects common across areas and encourage self assessment, reflection and improvement. This is a course that is essential for anyone who is either instructing or about to begin instructing in training classes. It is also essential for anyone engaged in Canine Behaviour Therapy and currently going through the Kennel Club Accreditation scheme. The course correctly examines all of the issues involved in the modern reward based training systems, so misunderstood and abused by many instructors practicing today. Both learning theory and practical applications are taught to students who will be working with rescue dogs during the course. There will be an opportunity to experience how dogs are judged in a competition. You will also put the rescue dog that you will be working with on this course through the KC Good Citizen scheme. There will be one dog per two handlers. These dogs will have come from a small pound in Ireland with a very high destruction rate and in most cases will have had no previous training. You will together teach them exercises from the Good Citizen test including loose lead walking, recall, grooming and handling and stay. All the teaching will be done in a vast outdoor area with indoor lectures also included. Ennis is only a 20 minute drive from Shannon Airport , with regular buses coming to Ennis. The location of the course is an easy 5 minute walking distant from the town centre with lots of available hotels and b and bs nearby.Clare has many famous tourist attractions including the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher .
